Set in the suburban sprawl of Mumbai city (Bombay), Divya Drishti pivots around the activities of a charlatan guru (sage) who sits each day at the local chai shop divining the future of residents living in a nearby condominium. Believing that the guru's words are inspired by divine vision, the residents fail to realize that he is in fact fabricating lies to appease them. As the narrative unfolds, sexual tensions bubbling just below the surface of the neighborhood begin to become visible: the local policeman is having an affair with a married man whose wife is about to give birth to their second child, while, unbeknown to the man, the baby his wife is carrying is the product of an affair she had with the local postman. In a twist of irony, it is only when the guru is suddenly struck by blindness (the result of his heavy drinking) that he begins to see the truth of his clients' lives. However, as he discovers, for some, the truth can be too hard to accept.
